The orbs we're talking about are
round spots of light that appear in photographs and digital pictures.
These orbs are glitches in the photographic
process, and can easily be explained. Just about 90% of the time, these balls of light are assosiated with dust
particles.
You can see these dust particles with the eye when a strong sun-beam comes in through the window. If
one of these dust particles is floating just inches in front of the camera's lens, then the photographic flash makes
it very bright. This bright dust particle is grossly out of focus, so it just shows up as a round spot of light in the picture.
Of course, dust isn't
the only particle which can reflect light, and make an orb on the picture. Raindrops, snow flakes, mist, and even gnats can
reflect the flash, and make orbs in the photograph. When there is a fine mist hanging in the air, hundreds of little orbs
can show up in a single photo.
Other orbs are caused by something
called "lens flare". This is when there's a bright light, like the sun, in the picture or just outside of it.
Lens flare is caused by multiple internal reflections in the camera's lens. You're likely to see examples of lens
flare when watching the winter Olympics. The camera man will be following a skier down a hill, and as he ski's past the
morning sun, a line of orbs will scan across the screen.
Also, just because an Orb appears to change direction, or speed up or slow
down very quickly, investigators think that this activity justifies calling it paranormal evidence. This is not true. Air
currents in any given situation can change very quickly. Unknown factors such as a heater turning on, air draft from a leaky
window, a breath from across the room, warm air pockets, even static charges built up in carpet can cause dust particles to
move in erratic directions.
Ghost
Posse's official opinion on Orb's, is that they are merely dust in the environment, humidity, or dirt trapped
in the camera lens on cheap or damaged digital cameras. We found that the cheaper the quality of the camera, and the cheaper
the lens, the more Orb's we get. We also know that the more mega-pixels a digital camera has, the more likely you are
to get an Orb, due to higher resolution settings. Below, you will see a picture of an investigation we finished.
If you look the photo over well, you can see dozens of Orbs. This is because this picture was taken with a very
cheap digital camera that was purchased for about $40.
Good cameras are built much in the same way as computers
are. They are assembled in clean rooms that are static & dust free, and 100 times cleaner than a hospital operating room.
The problem with cheap cameras, is that they are not assembled in these optimal conditions, and as a result, dust and other
contaminants are trapped inside the camera during assembly, and lenses can become easily contaminated.
As a matter
of fact, almost 90% of Orb's photographed, are not taken seriously by professional ghost hunters, and most professionals in
the scientific community will dismiss them. Orb's are dust, humidity, and lens flare, nothing more. Now unless we
get video of an Orb following us from place to place, or they are present in a photograph along with other paranormal activity,
you will not be seeing any on this website.
Just remember that dust is always
in the air and it will inadvertently show up in your pictures under any and all circumstances. If a certain paranormal group
is telling you that an Orb is paranormal activity, then chances are they are just grasping for straws.
Could paranormal activity manifest itself in the form of an Orb? Sure,
anything is possible, and ultimately, you have to be the judge of your own pictures or video. Just know, that Orbs are the
most common form of reported paranormal evidence, so there must be a reason why, and the reason is simple. It's a
dirty dusty world we live in!
